This video will show you how to leverage Hyper9 to find VMs that are running low on disk space or find VMs that have been allocated too much disk space, thereby wasting precious storage resources.
One of the advantages of Hyper9 is that it has visibility both inside and outside of the guest in terms of the virtual infrastructure.
To start, you can use one of the many "out of the box" or canned search queries provided by Hyper9. By clicking on Load Search, you can run one of the default canned search queries, such as in this case, "VMs with less than 10MB free space". Running this search query will go out and search across all VirtualCenter instances and all virtual machines to identify and return the VMs with less than 10MB of free disk space within the guest OS.
You can also modify and save this query to find all of the virtual machines in your environment that have more than 6GB of free space, as an example.
In either case, once you have a result set returned, you can click or highlight the virtual machines in question, and then export that list of information along with the various attributes that you are interested in to a report that you can then share with other members of your organization.
